Weeks 2 & 3

Time definitely does fly when you are having fun! I can’t believe we are beginning our 4th week today… This is the last week of Wingspan Players classes before they head into their tech week and then performances NEXT WEEK! And the Wingspan Ensemble are still rehearsing and working hard in their classes (they still have 2 weeks of classes left).

Some highlights of the past couple of weeks:

  • The Wingspan Players shared a bit of their show in our Company meeting this past Wednesday and everyone was so impressed and excited!
  • The Wingspan Ensemble took a trip to see Shuffle Along on Broadway (right before it closed!) and everyone was completely blown away by the performances–we all walked away very inspired.
  • The cast of Our Town took a trip to the Lincoln Center Library of the Performing Arts to watch a recording of the David Cromer production of Our Town to gain some insight into how the play all fits together and how the pantomiming looks in action.
  • The cast of Godspell worked on some really impressive lifts in rehearsal and they look so cool!
  • The Wingspan Ensemble planned a picnic in the park a couple weeks ago and it was a huge success.

Here were our featured shout-outs:

“SHOUT OUT TO JACK FOR JUMPING RIGHT IN AS DANCE CAPTAIN AND RUNNING OUR WARM-UPS SO WELL! YOU ARE AWESOME!”

“SHOUT OUT TO TREVOR FOR ALWAYS BEING SOMEONE YOU CAN TALK TO.”

“SHOUT OUT TO GATES FOR ALWAYS GIVING EVERYONE HIGH FIVES IN THE MORNING!”

And here are some photos from the past couple of weeks:

Week One

I can’t believe it is already Friday. What a week! We are in full swing with all of our classes already. And we cast all of the shows yesterday! Right now, the Wingspan Players are doing their first read through of The Music Man. The Wingspan Ensemble is about to head to their first read throughs in just 30 minutes. There was so much energy and amazing work this week and we are all buzzing with excitement!

We like to feature a “shout out of the week” here on our blog. Shout outs are a way of honoring someone for something you saw them do that was really above and beyond. This year we are specifically looking to shout out people that are going out of their way to uphold our value of Community. Here is this week’s from a new Wingspan Ensemble student:

SHOUT OUT TO VERONICA: VERONICA GAVE ME A BIG HUG WHEN I FIRST WALKED IN. SINCE I AM NEW, IT WAS GREAT TO FEEL SO WELCOMED!

And here are some fun photos of our first week!
