The Wingspan Players show: SHREK THE MUSICAL!

OK, so not so much a “sneak peek” as a description of the show.

This summer we will be working on SHREK THE MUSICAL with the Wingspan Players! I have been waiting for them to release the rights to this for a while and they finally did. If you have not seen this show, it is the same plot as the movie but with really great songs written by an amazing composer, Jeanine Tesori, and with a book by a Pulitzer prize winning writer, David Lindsay-Abaire. What I am trying to say is that it is really good…

If you are unfamiliar with the movie, here is a synopsis of the play:

SHREK THE MUSICAL

Music by Jeanine Tesori
Book and Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire
Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig

Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is Shrek. This show follows Shrek & Donkey’s journey to Duloc to deliver Princess Fiona to her soon-to-be “prince”, Lord Farquaad, so that she can have her fairy tale ending & Shrek can have his swamp back. Along the way, however, the trio changes (in more ways than one!) and so do their stories…
